Listen. Echo. Speak like you mean it.

Shadowing is a simple, proven technique: you listen to native English and repeat it out loud, almost at the same time, like a shadow. Your pronunciation, rhythm and confidence grow with every session.

The technique

Your voice, one step behind a native speaker

Originally used to train simultaneous interpreters, shadowing became popular with language learners thanks to polyglots who practised it while walking outdoors. The idea is simple: you don't just understand English, you physically rehearse it.

Your mouth, ears and brain work together, so new sounds, stress patterns and intonation become automatic instead of something you have to think about.

Why it works

Six skills, one daily habit

Ten to fifteen minutes of shadowing a day trains the parts of speaking that grammar books can't reach.

Clearer pronunciation

Copy real sounds as you hear them, including the tricky ones like th, r and short vowels.

Natural rhythm & stress

English is stress-timed. Shadowing teaches you which words to stress and which to shrink.

Better intonation

Questions, surprise, politeness: the melody of English carries meaning, and you'll start to hear it.

Sharper listening

To repeat speech in real time you have to hear every detail, including linking, reductions and weak forms.

Real fluency

Phrases go into your memory as complete "chunks", so you can say them without building them word by word.

Speaking confidence

Practise speaking out loud every day without needing a partner, so you lose the fear of your own voice.

How it works

Four steps to your first session

No special equipment. Just headphones, a short audio clip and your voice.

Listen

Play a 30–60 second clip a few times just to understand it.

Read along

Follow the transcript and mark stressed words and pauses.

Shadow

Speak along a split second behind the speaker, copying the melody.

Record & compare

Record yourself, compare with the original and repeat.
